Labor Support Techniques

for the Traditional Doula

 

A one day workshop designed for traditionally trained Doulas interested in becoming qualified to support couples who have been trained in HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method. This course does not certify  to teach HypnoBirthing® but certifies Doulas to support the couples who have prepared with this method for their births in hospitals, birth centers or home settings.

In addition to the workshop the fee includes HypnoBirthing® textbook, a workbook/notebook packed with information, and a certificate of completion.

 

Course Objectives - Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the HypnoBirthing® Philosophy
  • Define hypnosis and explain how it works
  • Identify proper HypnoBirthing® terminology and the importance of its use during the prenatal period and birthing.
  • Understand and implement the same techniques taught to birth companions during the HypnoBirthing® class series for parents.
  • Identify when and how to use HypnoBirthing® prompts and techniques to keep birthing Moms relaxed and birthing comfortably.
  • Learn the components of the HypnoBirthing® Birth Preference Sheet, how to implement the parent’s wishes and work in concert with the birthing staff.
  • Review the components of a complete ‘Informed Refusal’ and when to use it.
  • Utilize techniques for creating parent-driven decision-making on the following areas: induction evaluation, augmentation of labor, complications of induction and surgical birth, labor medications, epidural and Group B Strep.

This workshop is being made available only to professional doulas

Prerequisites:

1.  Prior to the workshop the participant must read the HypnoBirthing Textbook.  It will be made available to  you upon registration and full payment of course.

2.  Present copy of your Doula Certificate OR

Copy of your doula business brochure and/or business card plus copies of Proof of Birth Attendance Form as a Doula from two different birth clients. (Ask instructor to provide you with form to be used)
